Why a Rain Barrel?

1. Saves Water: A rain barrel enables you to use water that is normally wasted.

2. Reduces the amount of clear water that goes into the sewer system.

3. Mosquito Proof: Our barrels are sealed, which prevents attracting mosquitos.

4. Good for the garden: Rainwater is oxygenated and promotes healthy plant growth.

5. Threaded Spigot: The spigots are threaded so they easily connect to your garden hose.

6. No Overflow: When the rain barrel is filled, the rest of the water backs up to the diverter and flows backs up then the water goes through the downspout as normal.

Ten Water Conservation Tips

1. If your toilet is from 1992 or earlier, you probably have an inefficient model that uses at least 3.5 gallons per flush. New and improved high-efficiency models use less than 1.3 gallons per flush—that's at least 60 percent less than their older, less efficient counterparts. Compared to a 3.5 gallons per flush toilet, a WaterSense labeled toilet could save a family of four more than $90 annually on their water bill, and $2,000 over the lifetime of the toilet.

2. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and you can save up to 3 gallons of water each day.

3. Don’t let the faucet run while you clean fruits/vegetables. Rinse them in a filled sink or pan. This saves up to 150 to 250 gallons of water a month.

4. Running your washing machine and dishwasher only when they are full could save you up to 1000 gallons of water a month.

5. If your shower can fill up a one-gallon bucket in less than 20seconds, then replace it with a water-efficient showerhead.

6. Check for toilet leaks by adding food coloring to the tank. If you have a leak, the color will appear in the bowl within 30 minutes. (Flush immediately to avoid stain)

7. Limit your showers to under 5 minutes.

8. If your shower takes a while to heat up, and you have to let the water run, put buckets in the shower to capture the water for watering plants, water for pets, or washing your car or bike.

9. Do not use water to thaw meat. Use the microwave.

10. Check your water meter while no water is being used in your house. If it moves than you have a leak.
